Bent Sea: Noistalgia

Dirk’s been one of my fave drummers for a long time. He’s also obviously a huge Torture Division fan (who’s even donated to us) as well, which even further puts him up the pedestal of greatness. And on top of that, he’s one of the fucken friendliest guys you’ll ever meet.

So, now when the praise is over we can get down to business. Bent Sea’s “Noistalgia” is a furious grindcore/death metal EP I never saw coming from Dirk, simply becoz I didn’t know he was such a huge fan of this kind of metal (after all – he plays with extremely solid cheese act Soilwork, you know, hoho). But I am happy he is, becoz Bent Sea is just as competent as you’d expect from Dirk. Grindcore (is “World downfall” really grindcore? I believe it’s simply too excellent to be labeled that. ZING!) isn’t my fave style though, but death metal ranks up high. Dirk’s pulling both styles off well as shit, just like I expected and knew he would. It’s not anything I will be coming back to all too often, but when I do it’s simply becoz I can’t stop being impressed by this fucken guy’s drumming, and to hear what he can do within the boundaries of this kind of music is a joy too.

If you like brutality – you’ll like Bent Sea. Simple as that. Download the damn thing right here. For some reason the cover comes across as real fucken cool too.

7,5/10 for the EP.

9,5/10 for Dirk as a drummer.

10/10 for him being a Torture Division fan.

After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
